MY LEARNING LOG

Week 2

Post 2 - (10/19/2014)

Very interesting  and challenging week. I feel happy because, once again, I proved what I always tell my students: learning starts with an open minded attitude towards discovery. Besides, I think  the task was great as it had precise instructions and the necessary tools, but left on students' hands the responsibility to build our own learning path.

Week 2

Post 1 - (10/16/2014)

Searching the web. This week started with great discoveries: Google is not the only nor the best "magic door"into the WWW!

During the week I;ve been trying several search engines and varied portals to look for specific information in order to enhance my teaching as well as my students' learning.

I started to bookmark many of the sites, created a google doc with some of them to share with colleagues, and I'm planing to save them on Delicious soon.

Besides helping me with my work, I'm sure they will also help me guide my students to achieve more effective and efficient searches.

Hope to read some comments,

Week 1

Post 2 - (10/10/2014)

Here I am again sharing more reflections regarding blogging. I spent some time experimenting different ways to improve my blog. I feel this is a big challenge, but I love challenges and usually don't give up easily.

I was able to add pages to the blog in order to organize the posts gathered by topics. I must admit that this was done mostly by trial and error. This experience of building my own blog would certainly be the base for further blogging adventures, especially towards including  them in my teaching practices.

After reading the article "Using blogs in the Classroom" by Gail Morrison, I believe, without a doubt, that blogs are powerful teaching and learning resources to promote critical thinking and collaborative online learning.

I also recommend reading: Emerging Technologies - Bloggs and Wikies: Environments for On-line Collaboration published at Language learning and Technology Journal, from Michigan State University.

Week 1

Post 1 -  (10/09/2014)

This is my second time creating a Blog, but it looks more like my very first time because previous one was just a shy try.

To  get started I browsed on the web looking for some interesting blogs, visited some of the ones suggested in the Reflective Blog page from our classroom, read the "Blogs Blogger how -to "course handout, and before noticing  I was already exploring this great tool.

Although I usually visit many blogs, and profit from their varied resources, I have never tried to create my own or to use this tool with my students.

Coming next:
  • Read the document "Using Blogs in the Classroom"by Gail Morris.
  • Do some research about blogging.
  • Experiment to improve my blog. I feel ready to roll!

See you in the following post,
